La Ronde Autour du Château

From one side of the Foulon valley to the other, this walk provides views over the surroundings of the village of Vaillac and over the castle of the same name. Vaillac developed down in the Foulon valley under the protection of the lords of the castle. The Romanesque church of St. Julien, a remarkable edifice, dates from the 14th C. The old buildings which line the peaceful village streets are decorated with numerous sculptural/architectural features : door with an ogee arch, carved lintels... The perfectly-preserved castle was begun in the 14th C. It stands above the village and some of its various buildings are listed historic monuments : a chapel, the stables, a tower...
