Padirac Chasm, located 8 kms from Rocamadour, is France's most frequently visited chasm and one of the most fascinating in Europe.

Welcome to the underworld

After a vertiginous descent to 103 m below ground level (don't worry, there's a lift!), you're off on a visit that takes 1 hr 30 mins. You'll be taking a trip in a small boat along the underground river.

Beautiful sights to see

The river plays hide-and-seek through a labyrinth of cavities decorated with strange rock forms like mushrooms or lace… until you come to the Rain Lake with its translucent waters. It is then that you see the "Grande Pendeloque" (giant 60m high stalactite), which, as if suspended on a chain, seems to be admiring its reflection in the Rain Lake.

Crystalline magic

Next, you come to a landing stage and continue on foot towards the "Salle du Grand Dome" whose roof rises 94m above you. This cavern possesses a multitude of crystalline formations fashioned by Nature over millions of years.

When you return to the surface, still under the spell of the cave's magic, the light of day will make you blink and bring you back to reality !
