Cahors market… feast your eyes and your taste buds
Right in the city centre, on Wednesday and Saturday mornings all year round, the square outside Cahors cathedral is covered with brightly-coloured stalls forming one of the finest markets in the South-West.
Local produce, all present and correct
Traditional market traders (butchers, greengrocers, pork butchers..) rub shoulders with local producers (foie gras, "Rocamadour" goat's cheese, Quercy Farm Lamb, the famous pastry known as"pastis"…) and it's pure magic.
Cahors market becomes a place to meet people and enjoy convivial exchanges ; full of scents and savours, it appeals to all the senses.
Here, you come to do your shopping but also to stroll around and soak up the local atmosphere.
A colourful, visually exciting market
Your camera will be a useful companion for taking unique shots of the cathedral's domes or for immortalising the producers' faces (you can get very good shots from the little back street just between the pharmacy and the optician's.)
Practical info : There's a large car park 200m away on the other side of the Boulevard Gambetta. Market all year round from 8-12.30 on Wednesday and Saturday mornings
